Hawaii Outlaws Cellphone Use while Driving

Maui bans the use of handheld cellphones while driving on Maui effective July 6. First-time violators of the new ordinance could be fined up to $100 and receive a traffic citation. Ensuing offenses could result in fines of $250 or more. Maui County, which includes Molokai and Lanai, was the last county in Hawaii to enact a ban on cellphone use while driving.
